Introduction
|
|
| ProntoNet IP Decoder supplements the PRODYS IP range of audio codecs family. It is based on the features provided in ProntoNet.
ProntoNet IP Decoder is a multi-algorithm stereo audio decoder over IP, supporting many industry standard coding algorithms such as; G722, MPEG1/2 LayerII, MPEG1/2 LayerIII, MPEG2/4 AAC LC, MPEG4 AAC LD, apt-X (enhanced and standard) as well as uncompressed linear audio (PCM).
Each ProntoNet IP Decoder fully supports IP (TCP and UDP), connecting via a 10BaseT/100Base-TX Ethernet port (RJ45 connector). This enables remote monitoring/configuring and data/audio transportation over data communication links (LAN, Wan, Internet…).

Main Features
|
|
- IP Multicast and Unicast audio streaming reception.
- The Ethernet port is used for audio transmission and control. The unit can be controlled from a Web Browser and/or ProdysControl application, which lets the user manage not only many simultaneous PronoNet IP Decoders, but also other Prodys codecs (Pronto2/3, ProntoNet, Kronos...).
- ProntoNet IP Decoder offers fully TCP/UDP/IP connectivity via a 10Base-T/100BaseTX Ethernet port, supporting the following protocols:
- DHCP: IP address auto configuration.
- RIP2: Internal/Alias IP addresses can be assigned.
- SNTP: Clock synchronization.
- SNMP: Remote management over SNMP protocol.
- HTTP: An embedded Web server allows the user to monitor/configure the unit from a Web Browser.
- IGMP: This protocol deals with Multicast traffic.
- ICMP: IP control protocol.
- ProntoNetDecoder is equipped with a stereo balanced analog audio output (XLR-3 connectors) with 24 bits A/D-D/A converters, and AES/EBU digital (9 way D type connector) audio output. The AES/EBU interface provides input for an external reference clock.
- Headphone monitoring of audio outputs (jack connector) on the front panel, with volume control.
- Operational monitoring through front panel LEDs:
- VU meter for easy identification of the current audio level.
Red overload indication.
- Line connection LED: Indicates line connection status.
- Framed LED: Indicates audio synchronization.
- LAN LED: Indicates LAN connection.
- SYS LED: Indicates system ready.
- Reception of auxiliary data along with the encoded audio through an user configurable RS232 port (RJ45 connector) at 300, 1200, 2400, 4800 or 9600 baud.
- A redundant 12, 24 or 48 VDC power supply is available as an option. ProntoNet IP Decoder has a main AC power supply and a secondary DC power supply input. In the event of the AC input failing, then the secondary (DC) supply will automatically take over in order to give continuous operation.
- Up to seven user configurable general purpose input-outputs (open-collector signals, 25 way D type connector). These GPIOs can be used as end-to-end contact closure they can also be user configured, so inputs can be set up to control audio inputs or reset alarms, and outputs can be configured to monitor line status, audio synchronization or alarms, among other options.
- Dolby E reception over IP (by using AES/EBU in transparent mode).
- Automatic detection of the encoding mode used by the remote unit.
- Streaming advance features:
- Jitter correction buffer. This adjustable buffer avoids audio dropouts compensating for up to 500mS of jitter in the IP connection.
- The unit automatically adjusts in synchronisation with the transmitter site rate, to give a constant delay in IP communications.
- The codec provides a test tool which allows the user to check the bandwidth, delay and jitter in the IP connection. This information can be used to adjust the streaming parameters and so, to obtain the best-quality in the real-time audio reception.
- Upgrading of one or several units at once using the same utility, which is also compatible with ProntoNet units.
- Alarms: The system allows selection of which alarms are to be monitored. The unit can check and notify the occurrence of the following alarms:
- Voltage Out of Range 12 v Main: The voltage from the main power supply (AC/DC) is out of range.
- Voltage Out of Range 12 v Backup: The voltage from the backup power supply is out of range.
- Voltage Out of Range 3.3 v System: The voltage from the 3.3 DC/DC converter is out of range.
- Voltage Out of Range 5 v System: The voltage from the 5 DC/DC converter is out of range.
- Temperature Out of Range: The temperature is out of range
- Fan Failure: The fan is activated if the internal temperature is over 35º. The Fan Failure alarm will be activated if the fan doesn’t work when the temperature is over this threshold.
- LAN NOT Present: No electrical level detected on the LAN port.
- LAN Traffic: The LAN traffic is higher than the 90% of the capacity of the network.
- Decoder 1 Framed Lost: The Line 1 is connected but the decoder 1 is not framed, i.e there will not be audio output.
- Line Disconnected: Line has been disconnected unexpectedly, e.g. IP connection lost remotely from unit.
|
| The alarms are saved in non-volatile memory. It is possible to have an historical log of events even if the unit was disconnected from the network. |
