SCOOP REPORTER II Saves the Day
Testimnoial from Jim Henkel

Dear Mr. Sookoo,
I wanted to drop you a note about our recent emergency use of your Scoop Reporter II. We experienced an ice storm that we thought would certainly bring down our microwave tower at the main studio complex. A plan of action was implemented to put all stations on ISDN for the duration of the storm. Much to my dismay, there were still a couple of other ISDN boxes out for repair, which meant there were not enough to go around to all six stations. I found a pair of Scoop Reporter IIs that we inherited from an acquisition. I grabbed the Scoop Reporter II and made the journey to KLBJ AM. I discovered the ISDN service was down as well and resorted to using the Scoop Reporter on a dialup POTS line. It connected at only 24kbs. Based on previous experience with other POTS codecs, I thought that was going to be trouble. I was wrong. I listened to the program feed with a pair of headphones and was quite pleased with the Scoops performance. There was no chattering or Darth Vader effects experienced with other POTS boxes. The voice material on our news/talk station was clear and natural. I put it on the air feeding an Orban 9200 and a Harris Gates5 transmitter as a program feed during the brunt of the ice storm. No one knew or could tell it was on a dial-up. I wanted to let you know that you built a great box that delivered during a time of crisis.
Sincerely,
Jim Henkel
