Rogers Media Goes With The Scoop E-Z |
| Randolph, New Jersey -- The Fan 590 and The Fan Radio Network of Rogers Media recently purchased a few of the ATA Scoop E-Z POTS/ISDN/GSM codecs through Peter Kelly of All Electric in Canada. According to Greg Lowe of the Fan 590, “the Scoop E-Z will become our means of delivering play by play baseball games on the road for the Fan 590 and the Fan Radio Network this year. The reason for the change (from the XPORT) mainly is battery operation followed by size and the extra fail safe of GSM back-up”. Greg recently used the Scoop E-Z codec in Pots mode at a remote in the Wyndham Rose Hill Resort in Montego Bay Jamaica (click here for pics).
After using the Scoop E-Z for a couple of weeks, Nick Laratta broadcast engineer at Rogers Media had this to say. “With such diversity of two AM and two FM Toronto radio stations within Rogers Media, the ATA EZ Scoop is a versatile and portable remote codec that provides our users with three user friendly telco options. Users would be able to submit voice and/or audio information from the field to master control with ease. With a News and Sports station, gathering the latest and up to date information for our listeners is top priority. Thus, the POTS and GSM options within the Scoop allow field reporters to instantly connect to master control and submit the latest news. The ISDN option is excellent for FM “live on location” radio remotes where audio quality is expected. Overall, the ATA EZ-Scoop complements any remote kit. It is a must-have field codec for all types of radio reporting.” Greg, who is a colleague of Nick, wanted to add his comments also. “The ATA Scoop E-Z is the perfect all around solution for the remote operations of our radio stations. Rogers Radio in Toronto consists of two Music and News and Sports talk radio stations. The Scoop E-Z allows us to support news conferences, breaking news, remotes and sports play-by-play. With its GSM, ISDN and POTS ability, getting connected at in a moment’s notice is a real plus. The 5A system and the L2 J52 layer helps make ISDN connections a snap.”
